Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > Something I really enjoyed throughout the Capitol building was how they used the walls as gallery space. There is a collection of these class photos of each legislative session. The collection seems go back forever.

Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > Now notice this very endearing tradition. Take a look at that row of smaller images. Those are called mascots of The Senate. They are kids and grandkids of senators. These mascots get to appear enshrined for all of time in the halls of Texas state history. That's a pretty fun bragging right. Each legislator gets to nominate a child or grand child to be included in that year's class photo. A child may be included only once in his or her lifetime.

Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > Now notice the closeup of young Mr. Paul Van de Putte there. In another one of those amazing Texas coincidences, he just happens to share the same last name as long time NAVA member Pete Van de Putte who just happens to be related by marriage to State Senator Leticia Van de Putte! Her office opened lots of doors to NAVA and in doing so greately enriched our Texas visit. We are very appreciative. Here is link to Senator Van de Putte's Senate member page
