Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > These shots were not part of our NAVA meeting but they are cool vexibits I found during my side trip to LBJ's Western White House. I share them here for fun. If anyone ever asks you what US President once received a flagpole as a Christmas gift, now you know. He was however not president at the time.

Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > I would like to track down the story behind this LBJ personal flag and will write to the park service superintendent at the LBJ Ranch. If I get a response I will post it here. The ranger told me that the four stars represent Lady Bird, his two daughters and his dog at the time!

Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > They had photos on display showing a bunch of LBJ's large presidential bar-b-ques which apparantly had become quite legend. The pictures show that flags were often part of the event.

Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > There was no explanation of what the flags were.

Al Cavalari (theflagguys) > When people start handling things with white gloves, you know you are in for a treat because you are dealing with original artifacts. Again, here is a benefit of NAVA membership. At every meeting we get to see things that most visitors to a museum do not. Christopher LaPlante a of the Texas State Archives, came in on a saturday and brought part of the collection to us in our meeting room. Thanks sir.
